The Utah Sound Money Act
January 29, 2011

In this episode of the Pyrolitical Radio Show we interview Lawrence Hilton, the author of The Utah Sound Money Act. Listen in as we discuss the details of this bill and how it utilizes the provisions of the U.S. Constitution to create an economic boon for the state of Utah.
The bill establishes a Utah State coinage that is legal tender for paying State taxes. The coinage is stored in depositories established throughout the state, and allows individuals to exchange gold and silver for utah state gold and silver coinage. It can be left in the depository in an account or taken and kept in one’s own possession.
Additionally for funds that are kept in the depository the bill provides for a linkage to be made between the depository and any Utah based banking institution, so that you can have your funds stored in a form which prevents loss of value due to economic crises and inflation in general. As well the funds are then available for easy accessibility through your traditional banking institution.
As an additional protection against Federal overreach and following the Swiss model, the depositories account holders are protected from Federal confiscation. The only way that funds can be seized or account information received, is through the Local Utah court system and the Local County Sheriff.
These protections should provide an opportunity for Utahan’s to not only be protected from some of the Economic Turmoil that is before us, but also create the opportunity for an influx of capital that will spur the economy and provide a greater stimulus to the economy than possibly any other thing that the government could attempt to accomplish at this point.
Please listen in to get a taste of what The Utah Sound Money Act could do for you, your family, your city and state.
We Have How Many Federal Agencies?
January 22, 2011
Do you know how many bureaus, departments, boards, and agencies there are in the Federal Government? It will blow your mind to discover just how many exist on your dime! As you go to work every day, working hard to support your family, do you realize your labor is helping to fund things like the Japan-United States Friendship Commission, Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, and the Indian Arts and Crafts Board? Yeah, we knew you’d be excited about it too. We also examine a report card of Obama’s first 2 years in office. Here’s a hint: everything is moving in the wrong direction. We also discussed the Utah Compact and learn that not all Mormons in Utah see eye-to-eye with each other or the church leadership on the topic of Illegal Immigration. We finish up our lively discussion by learning about Congressman Davey Crockett’s (yes that one) hard-learned lesson about using government as a means to “do good” in society with tax payer money. Let’s just say, he learned and didn’t repeat his mistake, unlike our politicians today! This was a fun Friday broadcast you won’t want to miss!

Podcast – Education and Funding
October 11, 2010
There has been a tremendous amount of interest and speculation surrounding the recent federal government allocating of $101 million in education funding for the state of Utah. Most of the debate has centered around wether to take the federal money or not. Proponents have indicated that if we don’t take the money then this money that “originated” in our state will go to another federal program. Opponents of the funding plan indicate that the with the large amount of Federal funds that the state currently relies upon (up to 60% of its budget) that we can use this as a stepping stone to work on removing “all” federal funding. What is the principled stance??? Listen in and find out how we weigh in on the topic.
Podcast – Utah’s Federal Land Problem
October 7, 2010
Utah is a unique state that has some unique challenges, It has the highest pupil per tax payer ratio (as a result of above average sized families in the state) and it also has a large percentage of it’s land area tied up in a way that make the land un-taxable. This may not seem like too big of a deal, until you understand that it is property taxes that primarily fund our tax system. The less land we have to tax the less funds that will be available for our education system, and with over 67% of our land area controlled by the Federal government, Utah really only has a useable land area that is just slightly larger than West Virginia. Why is this really a problem and what can we do about it? Listen in to find out.
