ECONOMIC CONCEPTS: FOREIGN AID-ING AND ABETTING

Due to the recent horrific events in Haiti President Obama has committed $100 million in monetary aid by US tax payers. He has also expressed our country’s intention to help rebuild the nation over the long term. Historically, America has given trillions of dollars to foreign nations in the form of “aid” through the UN and other avenues, at the expense of the US tax payer. On this Call For Freedom we will analyze this pattern of aiding foreign nations via the government to determine if this is a legitimate use of governmental force.

Our Special Guest for this Call for Freedom is Claire Edwards Grover, she has been a member of the Utah Friends of Midwives association for 2 and a half years and a member of the Davis County Chapter of the 9/12 Project since March, 2009. Her chief political activities include educating our legislators about birthing rights and working to gain their support to pass legislation protecting these rights. Grover has a Bachelor’s degree in French Horn Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University. She is a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, playing French Horn for television and radio broadcasts. Claire, and her husband Mike, are the happy parents of three boys, Calvin, Shane and Spencer. Grover lives in Farmington, UT where she teaches French Horn, and rears her boys.

Our Special Guest for this Call for Freedom is a Utah State Representative from District 52, and one of the founders of the Patrick Henry Caucus (a group dedicated to a return to limited forms of government).  Representative Wimmer offered a challenge on Facebook for users to come up with solutions to Utah’s $850 million budget shortfall. We at the Call for Freedom took his challenge, on Nov. 24th we held a round table discussion where several solutions were proposed. These solutions have been presented to Rep. We have a special guest interview lined up for tonight’s Call For Freedom! A mover and a shaker in the fight for our Republic, Darcy Van Orden. She is currently Chair of the To Unite Committee for the Davis County 9/12 Project Group. She is also a member of the Independence Caucus and a Vice Chair for the Constitution Day Committee. She serves the community to provide free Constitution study groups as well as to implement Constitution clubs in local high schools.

Darcy attended George Mason University where she received her BS degree in Criminal Psychology. She and her husband Dan have been married 9 years and moved out to Utah from the DC area. Their daughter Christiana is two years old.
