About

Pyrolitical.com is the source for principled analysis of the current U.S. political spectrum.

There are major issues that face U.S. citizens at the present time; they are great, they are scary, and some are down right ugly. Human beings have never been very good at guessing the exact consequence that accompany their choices. Many times we are completely wrong. This is why it is important for each individual to base their choices not on whether the outcome will be what they “want”, but rather on a strict adherence to true fundamental principles.

gravityGravity is an example of a principle of physics, or natural law. We never step onto the basketball court and have to worry if the ball will come back down after we take a shot. Because of the Principle or Natural Law of Gravity, we are assured that every time the ball goes up it will also fall back down. The results are predictable and dependable. There are similar principles in every area of our lives, Health, Economics, Love, and yes, even Politics! By finding and applying true principles we can be assured of a good result every time, with perfect consistency.

The Founders of our great nation spent many years of their lives studying, debating, and experiencing the effects of good and poor governmental structures. They took lessons from the archives of history to establish a government that was unlike any on earth. One which treasured the individual, and saw the individual as the source of power, rather than a pawn to be exploited by a dictator. They understood that Monarchy (rule by one) or Oligarchy (rule by the few) were both recipes for disaster to individual liberties, and always grew into slavery. They also understood that Democracy (rule by majority) seemed always to end in one group forcing their views and beliefs upon the (usually weaker) minority.  In Federalist Paper #10, James Madison said of democracies, ”…as short in their life as they are violent in their death.” Many people today would be astonished to learn that we do not live in a democracy, but rather a Democratic Republic.

The Founders knew that when you give most men/women power they seek for more and more until, in the end, they have conquered all of their adversaries. James Madison also said, “If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” but since that is far from the case, the Founders established a government that was Ruled by Law, rather than by personality or birth status. The Constitution of the United States provides the framework for this wonderfully just form of government. You could say that they created a great ship that provides instruments shipand devices for those who man its helm to effectively guide its many long voyages. Those instruments are very defined in their usage, and provide a means for allowing the other crew members to prevent the ship’s misuse. The instruments and the ship as a whole must be cleaned, polished, and presented to the passengers for inspection, because the passengers own the ship.  Ultimately the passengers have the responsibility of ensuring that the ship they sail on is sea worthy and has the most responsible crew. If the passengers become neglectful in their duties, say, they decide it is okay to allow the crew to forgo plugging a small leak, the crew may begin to allow more leaks.  Either the people demand that the ship be fixed and replace the incompetent members of the crew, or the ship sinks completely leaving only those who could get into the life boats to survive. Either way, the ship is the responsibility of the passengers.

We must wake to our solemn responsibility. If there are problems that we see in our government at whatever level, Federal, State, County, Community, they are problems that We the People are responsible for fixing. But we cannot do that through sitting at home yelling at the TV, or merely complaining to our neighbors. We must first learn about the ship, and gain an understanding of how it was built and why.  This will allow us to see the problems (or leaks) that are in our current system. Then we must choose daily to be the very best passenger that we can be, Politically Active, practicing Moral Discipline, Exercising Responsibility and Honesty in our dealings with our fellow passengers. Then seek to share the principles we have learned with those around us, giving them the desire to learn and grow as we have done.
