J. Reuben Clark – The Champion of the Constitution

Joshua Reuben Clark, Jr. (1871-09-01 – 1961-10-06) was an American attorney, civil servant, and a prominent leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Born in Grantsville, Utah Territory, Clark was a prominent attorney in the Department of State, and Under Secretary of State for U.S. president Calvin Coolidge. In 1930 Clark was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Mexico.

He received his BS from the University of Utah where he was valedictorian and student-body president. He received his law degree from Columbia University and also was an associate professor at George Washington University. Both the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University were named in his honor.
