You give an interesting point of view through a McCarthian lense. Our government was formed on a principal of checks and balances. The government will always be a part of our society and to claim that any intervention by the government is socialism is just an emotionally charged claim and reaks of fearmongering. I would say that congress and, thanks in part to George Bush's misuse of 'executive privilige', the president have received too much power and lost some of this balance. How about I suggest a possible strategy. Push for term limits. Senator Hatch ran on a term limit ticket over 30 years ago. He lied and is still in the senate and seems like he will try and be there for another 30 years if his health holds out. If you really want to start a movement worth while, start pushing for term limits. We limit the President to 2 terms because we were afraid of one person holding that much power for too long. This is exactly what has happened with our representatives. The senate should be limited to 2 terms and the house should be limited to 3. That is 12 years on the hill and more than enough time.

This is just 1 idea. You may have a better idea or a different direction you would like to go. Ear marks could be one or controlling the sway of lobbyists on the hill may be another. Pick a focus point, create a tangible measurable goal, and start from there. This will help you truly improve our nation. Don't just waste our time with pointless name calling and labeling.
